CityView is the City of Baltimore’s mapping portal that provides information on a series of topics of interest for its citizens, visitors, researchers, and business community. This site will be updated with refreshed data and new layers on a frequent basis and feedback from its users will be an important source for making the application more useful to all.
Newly Added Layers:
CityView version 1.2 enhancements (release 03/12):
Thematic Legend: A legend was added in the lower left corner of the map. When activated (clicked) it will show the symbology of the active thematic layer, only if one has been selected and added to the map. Note: none of the base maps’ symbology are shown in the legend.
Better Export Capabilities: The ‘Export Data’ tool in the Thematic Overlay menu has been enhanced to give users the ability to export all of the data which appears on the map window at that time. If the ‘Within view’ box is not selected, a maximum of 1000 records will be downloaded from the thematic layer’s data.
Export file types: Users now have the ability to choose either Microsoft Excel (XLS) or Comma Delimited (CSV) text file as a format for the exported data.
# of Attributes Found and Export Data Capability: The number of attributes found is now shown in the ‘Find’ section, when a layer selection and location search has been made. And now the user is able to download just the found attributes using an additional ‘Export Data’ tool which was added at the bottom of the ‘Find’ section.
Link creation: Users are now able to get a custom web link that saves the map that they’ve created which they can copy and paste it into emails to share or post on a website. A new ‘Link’ section has been added to the left column.
